Call for Conference Sites
Feminism(s) and Rhetoric(s) 2009 and 2011
If you are interested in hosting a Feminism(s) and Rhetoric(s) Conference, the Coalition is now accepting proposals for 2009 and 2011. The Conference is under the auspices of the Coalition of Women Scholars in the History of Rhetoric and Composition, who are responsible for choosing the future conference sites from submitted proposals.Proposals should include the following information:
- A brief statement of interest. Why is your institution interested in hosting the conference? What do you feel your institution has to offer to Feminism(s) and Rhetoric(s) as a conference site?
- Information about the people who would serve on the local arrangements committee. Please provide names and contact information.
- A description of the “management structure” of the local arrangements committee. In other words, who would be in charge of local hotel arrangements, room arrangements, coordination of registration, local amenities, etc.?
- Information about the site itself. Describe the site, indicate the size of the hotel and the meeting facilities (these must accommodate approximately 400+ people). Please provide cost estimates for hotel rooms, parking (if any), meals, meeting rooms, and AV equipment (including set-up and take down). Please also describe proximity and transportation costs to and from the nearest airport. List possible local sightseeing and cultural opportunities for attendees.
- Please describe any institutional sponsorship, including personnel, financial support, publishing and photocopying services, etc.
- Please note computer capabilities for conference administration.
